Admission Age Guidelines
A child’s birthday is one important factor when determining their class/grade placement. Waldorf Pedagogy also observes the physical, social, and emotional development of the child. Each child is unique and on their own unfolding path. Below are birthday guidelines for placement. If the child’s birthday is on the cusp of these windows, expect that placement could go either direction based on a careful assessment made by our teachers.

Immunization
All students attending Live Oak Waldorf School are required to adhere to vaccination requirements set by California law (California Health and Safety Code, Sections 120325-120375), which requires all public and private schools and pre-kindergarten facilities to uphold immunization requirements, maintain immunization records of all children enrolled, and submit reports to the state. To attend class, students must be fully vaccinated, adhering to the state's vaccination schedule, or have an exemption through the California Immunization Registry - Medical Exemption (CAIR-ME). Additional guidance about immunization documentation can be found here.
Submit an inquiry form to schedule a tour of our forty-acre campus. This will allow you to see the school and the classrooms, get a feel for the community, and ask any questions you have about the school.
If you have submitted an inquiry, we will invite you (via email) to create a user account with Ravenna, the online database Live Oak Waldorf School uses to manage school records. Once you establish your user account, you can access the Parent Portal to apply for your child to enroll.
Applications are sent to teachers for review and placement based on the child’s age and previous schooling. To start preschool, children must be 2 years and 9 months old by the first day of school (usually close to Sept. 1st). Teachers place children in the grade and class level that will best meet the socio-emotional and academic needs of each child.
To ensure our school and class are the best choice for each child, we require (while school is in session) students to participate in a three to five-day classroom visit. For the child to attend class, the following paperwork must be completed and submitted:
- Student Emergency Card
- Medication in School (if needed)
- Photo Release
The teacher will notify the family after the interview (Preschool and Kindergarten) or classroom visit (Grades) of their enrollment decision.
Enrollment
The teacher will notify the family after the interview (Preschool and Kindergarten) or classroom visit (Grades) of their enrollment decision. Upon acceptance, the student may enroll in the school for a trial period of up to six weeks. The enrollment trial period allows the family and the teacher to ensure the class is the best option for the student. At any time during the trial period, the family may choose to leave or the teacher may choose to ask the student to withdraw from the school. If a student leaves the school within the six-week trial period, the family is only responsible for paying tuition while the child is enrolled.
You will receive an email inviting you to complete your admissions agreement via Ravenna.
You will receive an email with a link to all necessary enrollment forms. The school must have documentation of immunization on the child’s first day of class/enrollment.
