HEAD OF ADMINISTRATION

Live Oak Waldorf School is seeking a full-time, onsite Head of Administration to lead the school into its next phase of development with vision, collaboration, and care. About the School
Live Oak Waldorf School serves children from birth through 8th grade. Nestled in the Sierra Foothills, our campus offers convenient proximity to both Lake Tahoe and the San Francisco Bay Area. Spanning 40 acres, our grounds feature an early childhood village, a natural amphitheater, gardens, a woodshop, an assembly and music room, and hiking trails through the surrounding woods. The campus reflects our values of outdoor learning, rhythm, and reverence for the natural world.
We are a fully accredited member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN) and maintain strong ties to the wider Waldorf movement.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a servant leader who embodies, manifests and advocates for the mission and vision of our school, honoring its deep commitment to human development.
The Head of Administration is responsible for cultivating and maintaining organizational structures, systems, and capacities that support a solid foundation, sustainable growth, and smooth functioning of the school as a whole.
This position reports to the Board of Trustees, works in close partnership with the faculty, and supervises the school’s administrative staff. In providing clear and visible leadership of day-to-day operations and activities, the Head of Administration is a strong, thoughtful communicator who fosters a culture of transparency, professionalism and trust. This individual is dedicated to collaborative governance, managing relationships and building bridges among all constituents around our shared purpose.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the Board to advance the school’s mission through strategic planning, fiscal stewardship, and organizational growth.
- Uphold operational policies, practices, and agreements as approved by the Board in coordination with the College of Teachers and Leadership Council.
- Act as a liaison between the governance bodies of the organization, building clear systems of communication across all areas of school life.
- Oversee business operations, finance and budgets, human resources, and regulatory compliance.
- Hold the vision for and support the full scope of the school’s development program, setting fundraising goals and targets as part of the annual budget process.
- Lead, supervise, and provide professional development for administrative staff.
- Oversee the care of our campus, facilities and grounds.
- Ensure health and safety of the students and community.
- Serve as a primary spokesperson of the school to parents, donors, our surrounding community, and the greater Waldorf community.
- Foster an environment of trust and collaborative leadership through clear delegation, management, communication and shared agreements.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience or training in Waldorf education/administration
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of school leadership experience, ideally in an independent school or nonprofit organization
- Working knowledge of human resource practices, regulatory compliance, and nonprofit operations
- Experience with budget development and management, financial planning, as well as fundraising and advancement initiatives
- Strong organizational leadership and strategic planning skills
- Comfort in working collaboratively with diverse community stakeholders
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, ideally including experience in conflict resolution
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and Student Information Systems

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This is a full-time, year‑round exempt position, offering an annual salary range of $70,000 to $95,000, depending on experience and qualifications.Benefits include:

STRINGS AND ORCHESTRA TEACHER
Live Oak Waldorf School is seeking a Strings (grades 4 and 5) and Orchestra (Grades 6-7-8) teacher beginning immediately.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- Develop a syllabus with goals and objective of their year's work, working with developmental needs of each grade level
- Teach fundamentals of music theory
- Write Year-End Reports for each student
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching and leading strings and orchestra groups; Waldorf teaching experience and/or training preferred, though not mandatory.
- Able to speak and understand and communicate in English.
- A high degree of self-motivation with the ability to work independently, while working effectively in a team environment.
- Capacity to meet the school’s expectations and guidelines regarding direct communication by respecting and following the school’s Pathways of Communication process.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills.
HOURS:
Hours of employment shall be part-time with an average of 6 hours per week for 34 weeks. The days of work are primarily Monday through Friday from 10:45 am - 2:50 pm, with occasional weekends and evenings.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The compensation for this position shall be an hourly rate of $30 - $42 per hour, dependent on experience, and following the Subject teacher pay scale.

6TH GRADE TEACHER
Live Oak Waldorf School is seeking a warm-hearted, creative teacher for our sixth-grade students beginning in the fall of 2026. We, your future colleagues, are there to offer support in any way we can, including providing your own mentor to guide and help you on this journey. Additionally, Live Oak Waldorf School has funding available for continued Professional Development.
These students have for the most part been here since their first-grade year, and the parent body is a committed, dynamic, enthusiastic and very supportive group. The class of 17 students is well integrated and thriving, both socially and academically.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Waldorf teacher training, or currently enrolled in Waldorf Teacher Training
- Commitment to continuing Professional Development
- Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues, administration and parents
- Prior teaching experience is desirable, but not required
Compensation & Benefits:
This is a full-time position. The Lead Teacher will work during the Academic School Year (September through June), and must be available to be on campus 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the school begins and ends. They may also be asked to interview and accept applications for enrollment during the summer months.
Compensation:
The pay scale based on years of experience is $55,000 -$69,520 per year.

GRADES SUPPORT TEACHER
For the 2026/27 School Year
Live Oak Waldorf School is seeking a full-time Grades Support Teacher for Fall 2026.
The Grades Support Teacher supports the education of the student body of Live Oak Waldorf School and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the school's mission, vision, and values, while upholding the principles of Waldorf education.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Grades Support Teacher works with students in a developmentally appropriate
capacity in accordance with the Live Oak Waldorf School Curriculum Standards and the pedagogical principles of Waldorf Education.
The Grades Support Teacher works with colleagues in a professionally supportive and collaborative manner. The Grades Support Teacher will teach a rotation of Main Lesson blocks and weekly period classes, these being a mix of academic period classes and subject classes.
As a member of the College of Teachers, the position participates in weekly College and Grades Branch meetings, serves on an equitable share of committees, and engages in an equitable share of mentoring work with grades lead teachers.
The Grades Support Teacher will compose appropriate student reports.
This position is responsible for achieving and/or maintaining all appropriate certifications as specified by the Board of Trustees, Head of Administration, and/or by the College of Teachers.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED & EXERCISED
- The Grades Support Teacher reports to the Head of Administration regarding all compliance with employment laws and Live Oak Waldorf School’s employment policies.
- Reports to the Mentoring and Evaluations Committee of the College of Teachers regarding curricular and pedagogical principles and policies..
- Participates in the evaluation processes of the College of Teachers as outlined in the Employment Handbook and the Mentoring and Evaluations Documents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Waldorf Grades Teaching Certificate
- Substantial experience as a grades teacher in an accredited Waldorf School

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands listed below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The Grades Support Teacher must be able to:
- Walk, stand, and be on feet for 90% of the work day
- Climb stairs and hills
- Walk and run on uneven or rough ground
- Respond appropriately to situations of danger and guide children in such moments as needed
- Lift and carry at least 30 pounds
- Oversee and supervise safety of children in play environments
- Speak and understand fluent English
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position is full-time; Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 3:30 pm during the school year, with occasional weekend duties (fairs, festivals, outreach). Grades Support Teacher must be available two weeks before the beginning of the school year, and two weeks after the last day of school.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation Range: $55,000 - $66,000, depending on experience
