37th annual Pentathlon

May 24 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Each year, Live Oak’s large, green field is transformed into a colorful athletic arena overlooked by Mount Olympus as it hosts the Pentathlon for regional fifth grade Waldorf classes. Last year, Live Oak hosted 194 student athletes from Golden Valley Charter School, Blue Oak Charter School, Camellia Waldorf School, Sierra Waldorf School, Nevada Sage Waldorf School, Adventure Oak, Yuba River Charter School, and Tahoe Learning Community.

The very first Pentathlon Games were held at Live Oak in the spring of 1986 for that year’s fifth grade class as a culmination of the study of ancient cultures, which ends with ancient Greece. The games have been held annually ever since as a part of the fifth grade curriculum and have grown to become a quintessential experience for Waldorf fifth grade students around the world.
