Mary Beth Sartain
Mary Beth brings nearly two decades of leadership experience in Waldorf education. Her journey began as a Waldorf parent, and deepened when she began working in Waldorf schools. She pursued Waldorf teacher training, earning her Grades 1-8 certification from the Waldorf Institute of Southeastern Michigan, which gave her an even greater appreciation for the artistry and intentionality Waldorf teachers bring to their classrooms every day.
Mary Beth spent nearly fifteen years at Linden Waldorf School in Nashville, Tennessee, starting as Office Manager before moving into Director of Admissions and later Director of Advancement and Outreach, where she grew enrollment and led strategic planning for a capital campaign. She went on to serve as Director of Admissions and Marketing at Marin Waldorf School, and most recently as Interim School Director at Davis Waldorf School, stepping in to lead the school during a maternity leave. Earlier in her career, she spent a decade as a continuous improvement specialist in the automotive industry and lived and worked in Japan.
Mary Beth holds a BA in Journalism and Religious Studies from Indiana University and is a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor. She is making her new home in Auburn, where she is already exploring the trails with her dog, Coco.
Outside of work, Mary Beth enjoys hiking, cycling, live music, good books, and the occasional game of lawn bowling.
Mary Beth joined Live Oak Waldorf School in 2026.
